5 Self Motivational Tips To Conquer Your Goals In 2021′
You need 5 self-motivational tips to conquer your goals in 2021. Let’s face it: 2020 was rough, and thus far 2021 is still uncertain. it’s hard to balance work and family, eat a balanced diet, workout at some point, keep your personal life personal and work at work. It is easy to maintain discipline for a while, but developing the daily habits that will change your life requires putting in some effort. So here are the basics on how to stay motivated.
Define Your Objective-Tip #1
How do you know where to go if you do not have a clear destination? It is good to have many dreams and aspirations, but a clear goal is the only one that becomes concrete. So do this Pick 1, yes just 1 goal and really define it. For Example, undefined goal- I want to lose weight. Great, who doesn’t, but how will you get there? There isn’t much motivation behind a goal that has no pazazz, has no vision or feeling.
A vague goal is hard to get personally connected to, thus hard to stay motivated. Clear goal- I want to lose 15 pounds of body fat over the next 6 months. Now we made it more specific, we added a time frame. We defined what kind of weight we want to lose, fat not muscle. Now let’s discuss the why. I want to lose 15 pounds of body fat over the next 6 months. Because it will make me feel sexy, yes sexy! I want to feel comfortable in my clothes and in my skin. To be able to go for a walk and not get winded. Look in the mirror, yes look in the mirror at myself and feel happy with what I see.
Now that is a clearly defined goal with emotion. Emotion puts the wind in your sales, picture this new you, and think about how you will feel when you reach it. Excellent, you are one step closer to the new you.
Simple exercise to make a vague goal clear
Suggestion: Take a minute pause here and write out your goal, do it on your phone, computer, or even a piece of paper. Get clear, get specific, add emotion. If it is about paying down debt, great. How much debt do you want to pay off this year? How will it make you feel to get the weight of that payment off your back? What will it allow you to do? Super, You need 5 self-motivational tips to conquer your goals in 2021.
Declare Your Intentions Publicly- Tip #2
Take all that social media time and put it to work. Post your goal on your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and anywhere else on the ole interweb! Declare it the whole world! Let everyone know your hopes and dreams, your goals for 2021. The last thing you want to do is disappoint the world! Okay, maybe that is a little stretch, but seriously post your goals for 2021. This gives you a sense of accountability. It can also help if others join in or give you the coveted “like.” And if any of those trolls or haters try to bring you down, use it as fuel to prove them wrong. Remember this is only Tip # 2 of 5 self-motivational tips to conquer your goals in 2021. Once you grasp all 5 you will be unstoppable.
Crush Negative Thinking, It Is Contagious- Tip #3
Don’t let doubt take you out!! We all do this. We let some self-doubt or a small obstacle take us out of the game. Sadly most of the time it is even before we have a chance to succeed. Don’t’ believe the lies the devil puts in your head! Remember you can and will succeed as long as you don’t give up, so don’t give up. If you hit an obstacle push past it. Remember change and greatness happen outside of our comfort zone, so get positive and get uncomfortable. You may have to do a short analysis about who is in your life if this seems to be the hang up from your success. Remember, You need 5 self-motivational tips to conquer your goals in 2021. All these steps are important.
Take a quick analysis of your life. Write down the 5 closest people in your life. Now after each one write if you feel they have a negative or positive effect on your life, and be honest. If you marked someone as negative, now is not the time to have them in your life. Take a break from contacting them. Seek other positive people that are doing something good and become a part of their life. Remember, you are working on something great in your life right now. The new you just laid out your vision for the new you. A public declaration of where you are going has been made, now clean out the noise, the negativity and get to succeeding!! You have this, just continue to look forward and focus on the positive! Tip 3 of the 5 self-motivational tips to conquer your goals in 2021, accomplished!
Take Small Steps- Tip #4
I was once asked a seemingly foolish question, that has stuck with me ever since. Here is the question, “How do you eat an elephant?” The answer, “One bite at a time.” Yes, this is foolish, but it makes the point. Take small steps to do something great. Each small action compiles and small achievements yield great results. Back to the original goal, if it is fat loss, each calorie-restricted or calorie burned adds to pounds lost. Similar to paying down debt or saving money. Each penny compounds to a dollar, to 10, 100, 1000 and so on.
Break down the goal to cross-check it
Exercise. Write out your end goal, break it into smaller pieces. Back to the weight loss goal. If my goal is to lose 15 pounds in 6 months. That can seem difficult. But divide 15 by 6 months which is 2.5 pounds a month. now break it down to weeks, take the 2.5 pounds and divide by 4 weeks per month, that is only .625 pounds a week. Seems much more manageable when we take it in small steps.
We have the 1000 foot view which is the goal but now unpack it. Break the goal down to the 1-foot view. This also helps you to cross-check the feasibility of your goal. If this micro view seems too difficult, restructure your goal. Either extend the timeframe or lower the bar, don’t give up. remember, the only way to fail is to give up, so don’t do it.
Now we have a weekly task. If you want to make it even easier go smaller take the .625 pounds divide by 7 days a week it is .089 pounds per day you would need to lose. there are 3500 calories in a pound, take 3500 calories x .089 pounds. You need to either burn or restrict 312.5 calories a day to make your goal. Hope I didn’t take that too far, but get the point. Break it down as small as you need to start chipping away at the end goal. Some people really need the small goal others a more general goal. Find what works for you. Superb! You have just passed Tip #4. I can really feel your successful vibes, you are awesome!!
Celebrate All Victories- Tip #5
Yes, celebrate all the wins on the road to success. If you have children or remember being one, you may recall a few positive influences in your life. You might recall the time mom or dad said great job, or way to go! Positive reinforcement is the best motivator in the world! The good news about this is, you can provide all the positive reinforcement you need, yes you. To keep continuity in this article we will stick with the weight loss goal. Every day you meet your goal of a caloric deficit of 312.5 calories celebrate! Find a way to bring yourself some of that inner joy that you deserve. Treat yourself to an extra 30 minutes of “me time” or blast some good tunes and dance. Go for a short cruise with your windows down. Do something that just makes you feel good.
Last mini assignment. Write out a list of at least 10 different things that make you feel good, 10 rewards or celebrations that you can do when you succeed. That way when you are winning you can generate some serious momentum. Don’t underestimate this. Again, positive reinforcement is a fantastic way to reach your goal and change the inner you. We all tend to punish ourselves for every little thing we do wrong, but rarely do we reward ourselves for our success. This is your chance to change it.
